Ever feel like the UN was designed to keep you one step behind?
Join Indigenous leaders reading a 4 minute strategy email every Saturday. Decoded moves from an Alifuru strategist negotiating in Geneva and New York. No fluff. Just leverage.
Hi there! I’m Ghazali, a strategist, mentor and negotiator in global Indigenous diplomacy. I’m from Maluku and have worked across several complex negotiations: General Assembly, UNFCCC, Human Rights Council, Article 6, WCIP2014 and am currently helping to shape the BBNJ.
My goal is to help make Indigenous Peoples’ participation at the UN become a fact, a standard, as logical as gravity.
-
My ‘Why’ is to inspire and equip 476 million Indigenous Peoples so they can do what inspires them. Not by making noise. But by building systems that hold power.
I do this work because I’ve sat in negotiations where one sentence changed everything. Because I’ve watched strong leaders walk into high-stakes moments without the backing they deserved. Because I know what it means to see the full board, and still have to play fast.
Everything I build with Gomaluku pushes one goal: To reverse-engineer sovereignty. So our people don’t just participate. They train. They lead. They win. -
It started with trying to find an Instagram handle. My name is Ghazali Ohorella, and I am from Maluku.
So I combined my initials with Maluku: Gomaluku. Then I launched the Gomaluku Podcast. Over time, it began to grow into something more. Now it feels less like a handle and more like a brand. I have added Gomaluku Notes, a weekly field brief for Indigenous diplomats and organizers. And I am building a whole ecosystem around it.
What started as a username is now a platform to share strategy, sharpen thinking, and equip Indigenous Peoples with the clarity and tools to move with power.
-
Because too many Indigenous leaders are navigating the system without strategy.
By the time most people see the text, the decision is already made.I write Notes to pass on what I see from the inside of the UN: Real-time signals, strategy, and shifts.
Not summaries. Not theory. Not vibes. -
The Notes, Youtube, Podcast, are all free. That is by design. This is movement work.
I only charge for what takes deep energy and time. 1:1 Strategy. Long-term advisory. Field-tested consulting. If the fit is right, I offer it.
If not, you still get the Notes. -
I have worked directly on:
Negotiating Indigenous rights into carbon markets under Article 6.
Over 50 Human Rights Council resolutions each year.
Negotiated the seven plus seven membership model of the UNFCCC LCIPP
Creating Indigenous seats for the Santiago Network for Loss and Damage
Currently shaping BBNJ and the Indigenous High-Level Plenary in 2027
If you are wondering whether I actually did the work. Or whether I just had access. I get it. But here is what matters. I was at the table when key text was being shaped. I ran strategy behind the scenes for high-stakes meetings, I mapped power, I moved people, and I made sure we did not walk in blind.
This work is not about visibility. It is about leverage, and that is what I bring.

I moved to Geneva in early 2023 to get close to the sun. Since then, I’ve been a one-man band operating out of the most expensive city in the world—covering the Human Rights Council, tracking the WHO and UPR reviews, and staying closely connected to key processes in New York. Think of me as a mini Indigenous embassy embedded where decisions are made.
Before Geneva, I lived in Amsterdam and spent a short period in New York City. Both places shaped how I read systems, navigate proximity to power, and stay one move ahead.
-
You probably shouldn’t. You might think I’m just another voice with an opinion. Another strategist who talks about systems but never had to move inside them. Someone who made a deck and now calls it a mission.
I get it. The UN space is flooded with people who have never had to hold the line under pressure. But here is what I have actually done.
I have helped leaders block bad decisions that would have set us back decades.
I have prepared bilaterals and interventions that shifted negotiations in real time.
I have built strategies from scratch for rooms that were not ready to include us.
I did it all without needing to be the loudest voice in the room.
You do not need to trust me because I said it. You can trust me because I have moved outcomes quietly, consistently, and without compromise.
Ask around. I do not show up to be seen. I show up to get results. -
If you are looking to contribute to the bigger picture. To plug into an ongoing process. To move with strategy. Or to build something new that shifts the field? Yes. That is exactly what I do.
Start with a Strategy Intensive if you need sharp clarity around one challenge. Or invest in Monthly Advisory if you want long-term strategic partnership.
-
Yes. But I do more than give keynotes.
I run deep-dive sessions, workshops, and strategic intensives designed to help your team. Whether you are working on FPIC, carbon markets, BBNJ, climate diplomacy, or internal alignment. I bring lived strategy, not surface messaging:
Understand global processes
Coordinate Indigenous diplomacy with clarity
Build long-view strategies that actually move outcomes
You can bring me in for: A full-day strategy session, a targeted training workshop, or a deep-dive on one of your biggest diplomatic or organizational challenges.
